Shubhankar Sharma described playing Carnoustie as “the best birthday gift” after a third round 71 at the Open Championship.
The Indian, twice a winner on the European Tour this season, turned 22 on Saturday.
Three birdies and three bogeys secured a level par round for Sharma, keeping him two over for the tournament.
“This is the best birthday gift for me, just playing at the Open,” he said.
“Perfect - it wasn't like yesterday. Perfect weather for us today. It's the best way to spend my birthday.
“It was a great day. I would have liked to have played a little bit better than I did, but again, I'm very happy that I'm playing today.
“I thought I played pretty well today, just didn't make enough putts. And even though I made that birdie on the second, which was a good start, I couldn't really capitalise on that start.”
