Scott Jamieson was "delighted" after wrapping up his DP World Tour card for next season with another stunning back-nine display in the final round of the 2023 Commercial Bank Qatar Masters.
The Scot started the week 119th on the Race to Dubai Rankings in Partnership with Rolex, knowing he needed a good result to squeeze into the top 116 and retain his playing privileges.
A barnstorming finish to Saturday's third round, in which he made eight birdies in his final ten holes, gave Jamieson a great chance of getting over the line on Sunday but the front nine did not go according to plan.
After opening his fourth round with a bogey at the first, Jamieson dropped another shot on the sixth to slip back to 11 under.
And things looked like getting even worse when he found the water at the par-three eighth, only to save par after holing his third shot.
Jamieson then continued his love affair with the back nine at Doha Golf Club as he made four birdies in a row from the tenth to storm into contention.
And another gain at the 16th took him to 16 under par, before back-to-back pars on the 17th and 18th saw him earn a share of third place to finish 82nd on the Rankings and comfortably keep his card.
He said: "I'm delighted, obviously. Not the best situation starting the week.
"I'd spent the whole year on the right side of the line and then as each week went on and on, I kept missing the cuts by a shot.
"I spent a lot of Friday afternoons watching the scoreboards to see if I was going to sneak in. I think that was probably half my problem - I was just trying to make cuts and keep my head above water.
"Then all of a sudden this week, it's a very different game. I've got to have a result. I knew in my mind it was top-20 minimum or it won't be good enough. It's just amazing what a better mindset can do.
"For whatever reason this week as soon as I've made that first birdie I've kind of been able to keep going."
England's Ross Fisher finished in the final spot above the line - 116th - after signing for a closing 69 on Sunday.
The five-time DP World Tour winner, who came into the week 115th on the Rankings, said: "I'm pretty pleased, if I'm honest.
"I always knew it was going to be a tough day but I knew I had it in me. It's been a long four weeks, I've played some really, really good golf but the putter has really let me down this year.
"I played really well today. A couple of putts here and there lipped out. I was sort of thinking maybe it's not going to be my week.
"Then to make a couple of good putts coming home to keep my card, I'm absolutely delighted."
