Marcel Schneider is hoping renewed confidence in his game will help him maintain momentum in Austria following last week’s runner-up finish to Marc Warren.
Schneider put together four consecutive rounds of 69 during last week’s Austrian Open, dropping just four strokes all week, and will be eager to sustain that form as he returns to Euram Bank Open for a second time.
“I’m so happy to be back out and competing,” said Schneider.
“My game was super solid. I dropped four shots the whole week. It was just super.
“Something clicked. Putting was never the big strength of my game but it worked quite well last week and I hopefully can ride on that wave for a long time.
The German, said he was looking forward to competing at the second dual-ranking event in row on the European Tour and European Challenge Tour, and his confidence is likely to be bouyed by his performance in this tournament last year - which included a course record-tying eight under 62 during the first round.
“I’m looking forward to it,” he said. “I love the course to be honest. Besides the walking, I really love the views, the fairways and the greens. You need a lot of tactics in your golf game.
“My game feels good, all parts are put together, I’m feeling strong.”
That record was matched by both Antoine Schwartz and Pontus Widegren over the subsequent days last year before Julian Quesne carded a 61 on Sunday, with Schneider eventually finishing tied for 14th as Calum Hill took home the spoils.
It was one of five top 20s he recorded during the 2019 season, which included a tie for sixth at the Challenge Tour Grand Final.
Schneider, who moved up to second place in the Road to Mallorca standings after last week, last lifted a trophy at the 2018 Swiss Challenge.
