Ahead of the new season we profile some of the best players from Europe’s four satellite tours. Here we start with 2017 Alps Tour Number One Adri Arnaus.
The Spaniard, a contemporary of current World Number Two Jon Rahm, made history when he became the first amateur to win the Alps Tour’s Grand Final last season en route to topping the Rankings on the third tier circuit.
Arnaus made a fast start to his 2017 season, playing his way into three play-offs during his first four Alps Tour appearances – where after losing out in extra holes on two occasions he eventually overcame France’s Gregoire Schoeb to win the Villaverde Open.
Following that maiden victory the 23 year old amateur made eight consecutive cuts, picking up three further top ten finishes before triumphing again at the season-ending Grand Final.
With a European Challenge Tour card secured for 2018, Arnaus entered the European Tour Qualifying School. After catching the eye during Second Stage at Desert Springs Resort with an outstanding 11 under par 61, Arnaus turned professional before making it through all six rounds of Final Stage.
Although he missed out on a European Tour card on his first trip to Q-School, Arnaus will be looking to follow in the footsteps of Matt Wallace who has now won at the highest level after coming through the Alps Tour in 2016.
