Ryder Cup visits Le Golf National

It might be another seven years until France hosts The 2018 Ryder Cup but Samuel Ryder’s trophy made an early visit to Le Golf National during the Alstom Open de France.

The Ryder Cup was on display during the opening round of continental Europe’s oldest National Open championship at the Paris venue which will host the 42nd edition of The Ryder Cup.

Some of the French players who were involved in the successful French bid and those hoping to make the 2018 European Team took the opportunity to hold the famous Ryder Cup.

Gregory Bourdy, Christian Cevaer, Julien Guerrier, Thomas Levet and Romain Wattel showed off the cup, which is currently in Europe’s possession after victory over the United States at Celtic Manor in Wales last October.

Richard Hills, European Ryder Cup Director, said: “We were delighted that the Ryder Cup was able to be displayed at the Alstom Open de France. It gave the French golfing public the opportunity to see first-hand the trophy that, through their overwhelming support of the bid, will be contested at Le Golf National when France hosts the matches for the first time in 2018.”
