Ryder Cup stars Paul Casey and Patrick Reed today confirmed they will tee it up at this year’s Porsche Europe Open alongside Xander Schauffele when it returns to Green Eagle Golf Courses from September 5-8.
World Number 15 Casey has enjoyed a strong start to the year with seven top ten finishes globally and the successful defense of the Valspar Championship in Florida, to secure his 19thworld-wide professional victory.
Casey finished seventh in Hamburg last year in what was his seventh appearance at this event – his best finish at Porsche European Open. Although prepared to make his eighth appearance later this year, the 41-year-old’s history with the tournament goes much further.
“I’ve made no secret of the fact I would love to win this tournament,” said Casey. “This is an event steeped in great history and I used to volunteer at this event as a small kid when it was held in England at Walton Heath.
“This year has gone well for me so far with my defence of the Valspar Championship being a highlight. My game is in good shape and I’m excited to test myself in Europe again.”
Patrick Reed, the 2018 Masters champion, returns to Hamburg for his third consecutive appearance, hoping to build on his tied ninth finish last year.
“The North Course at Green Eagle is a really fun golf course to play, with a great and challenging layout,” said Reed. “I’m really excited to compete in my third trip to the great city of Hamburg for the Porsche European Open.”
“I’ve had two good years on the course at this event, and I hope to challenge for the title again in September.”
The Porsche European Open has a rich history of world-class champions, including Major winners Nick Faldo, Bernhard Langer, Sandy Lyle and Greg Norman to name but a few.

England’s Richard McEvoy will return to Hamburg to defend the title he won last year. It was the 40-year-old’s first European Tour title on his 285th appearance, which he won by one stroke from Sweden’s Christofer Blomstrand, Germany’s Allen John and Renato Paratore of Italy.
