With World Number Two Rory McIlroy already in the field, it promises to be a world-class line-up for the US$7million event at Montgomerie Maxx Royal for the first tournament in the Final Series.

“Although I’m still focusing on my own game, as the months pass The Ryder Cup will occupy more and more of my time,” said Clarke.

“There’s less than a year to go now. It’s getting exciting and I’m sure it will start to creep into the thoughts of a lot of the guys. Each week gives them a new opportunity.

“I’ve always enjoyed playing in Turkey. The Montgomerie Maxx Royal is a great course and the hospitality is excellent so it’s a week I always look forward to.”

McDowell, who has played in four Ryder Cups, will be making his first appearance in the Turkish Airlines Open, and said: “The tournament comes at an important stage of the season and we’re all looking to have some good weeks before the end of the year.

“We all have our own motivation and goals, but I think we all have to admit that The Ryder Cup crosses your mind. I’ve heard a lot of good things about the tournament and can’t wait to see the set-up for myself.”

Westwood is aiming for a ninth straight Ryder Cup appearance, while Poulter is hoping to feature for a sixth time.

Poulter said: “It’s good to see so many of the guys you’ve played alongside and we’ve got great memories together but we also love battling against each other.

“Last year came soon after our win at Gleneagles and I contended in Turkey so I’ll be looking to repeat that.”

The Turkish Airlines Open takes place between October 29 and November 1, with 78 players competing.
