World Number five Justin Rose will return to the Aberdeen Standard Investments Scottish Open, a Rolex Series event, at Gullane Golf Club on July 12-15, 2018, and tickets are on sale now from just £15HERE
The 2014 winner will tee it up at the event for the first time since 2015 – the last time Scotland’s National Open was hosted at the East Lothian venue.
The ten-time European Tour winner and reigning Olympic Champion produced a flawless final round to win the Scottish Open at Royal Aberdeen four years ago.
Tied with home favourite Marc Warren going into the final round, Rose holed long putts at the second, third and fifth as he birdied four of the first six holes and never looked like being caught. Further gains at the ninth and 12th cemented a closing 65 and 16 under total, two shots ahead of Sweden’s Kristoffer Broberg.
The 37 year old - who has played a key role in four Ryder Cups - was awarded an MBE in the New Year’s Honours List for his contribution to golf. He returns to Scotland, the Home of Golf, as the Scottish Open once again takes its place as the fifth event on the European Tour’s Rolex Series, a premium category of tournaments on the Race to Dubai, each with a minimum prize fund of US$7million.
The 2013 U.S. Open champion will tee it up at Gullane in the week before The Open Championship following a stunning 2017 season in which he finished runner-up at the Masters Tournament and won back-to-back events - the WGC-HSBC Champions and the Turkish Airlines Open - as he pushed Tommy Fleetwood all the way in the Race to Dubai.
Rose said: “The Scottish Open win in 2014 was definitely a memorable one. It was the first time I had gone two in a row, after winning in America the previous week. I really got to love the golf course and had a very special week.
“The last time I played at Gullane in 2015 I followed up with a sixth place finish in The Open, so I’m looking forward to teeing it up there again, and to two good weeks of links golf.
“The Scottish Open is a fantastic tournament and I’m glad to be back and vying to lift the trophy again. There’s definitely something special about playing golf in Scotland – the crowds are so knowledgeable and appreciate good play which always makes for a good atmosphere.”
