Watson had been three shots clear at the top of the

at the TPC River Highlands but a round of 70, allied with a 65 by DeLaet and Hoffman's 66, saw him

reeled

in.

The 34 year old, who claimed his first tour win at this event in 2010 before being runner-up last year, had started the day in the lead after yesterday's 67.

He returned today and made a fine start, firing birdies on the second, third and sixth holes.

However, the American endured a disappointing back nine with bogeys on the 13th, 15th and 17th to finish with an even par 70.

DeLaet

, who had dropped off the pace following his 70 yesterday, rediscovered his first-day form to birdie the second and then fire four back-to-back birdies on the back nine, with a 16th hole bogey cancelled out when he picked up a stroke on the 18th.

Hoffman went round in 66 today, with one bogey on the 12th the only blot on his card, as he produced a four under par round.

One shot back were Chris Stroud and Nick O'Hern, the former hitting five birdies and just one bogey for a 66 while the Australian continued his consistent tournament with a 68 including three birdies and one bogey.

Ken Duke moved up to sixth with a flawless round of 65 which included five birdies while Rose, who won his first Major at the US Open last weekend, was in a seven-way tie for seventh after a 68.
