Rose Rampages back into World Elite

Justin Rose’s first win in American at The Memorial Tournament saw the Englishman burst back into the top 50 in the Official World Golf Ranking while Graeme’s McDowell’s Celtic Manor Wales victory consolidated the Northern Irishman’s top 50 spot during another outstanding week for European golf.

Rose posted a brilliant 66 at Muirfield Village to claim his first PGA Tour victory over a field that included the World’s top two players – Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson. The 29 year old’s three shot win saw him make a huge leap forward in the World Rankings, climbing from 66th to 33rd in one almighty stride.

McDowell is just three spots behind Rose following his sensational victory at The Celtic Manor Resort, where he produced a magnificent final round 63 over The Twenty Course – host venue of this year’s Ryder Cup – to secure his fifth European Tour victory.

Rhys Davies almost stole McDowell’s thunder at Celtic Manor as the Welshman produced a sublime course record 62 in front of his home crowd to take second spot to McDowell. Davies’s second place finish helped him sail into the world’s top 50 for the first time in his career as he jumped ten spots, from 55th to 45th.

Luke Donald’s amazing European run ended with the Englishman leapfrogging Paul Casey into eighth place in the Rankings after his third place finish at The Celtic Manor Wales Open, while Ian Poulter swapped places with Ernie Els as the Englishman squeezed ahead into sixth place.

The European Tour’s Membership are performing remarkably in the Official World Golf Ranking, with Lee Westwood, Ernie Els, Ian Poulter, Paul Casey, Luke Donald and Rory McIlroy in the top ten and a total of 32 European Tour Members in the elite top 50.
