Romain Langasque will start life as a professional golfer on the European Challenge Tour in the Red Sea Egyptian Challenge Presented by Hassan Allam Properties next week after a promising performance at the Masters Tournament.
The 20 year old caught the eye in the final round at Augusta National when he made five birdies during a remarkable back nine for a closing four under par 68 in his last event as an amateur.
Four birdies in his last five holes – including a stunning chip-in on the 16th – meant the young Frenchman had a Masters debut to remember, shooting one of the best rounds of the day in Georgia.
Langasque, who finished as the second-highest amateur behind American Bryson DeChambeau, is well placed in the 2016 Road to Oman’s Rankings after finishing runner-up in the Challenge Tour's season-opener, the Barclays Kenya Open.
Now the Frenchman is aiming for a first professional win after a dream week battling it out against the world’s best at one of golf's most famous venues.
“It was amazing,” said Langasque, whose 31 in his final nine holes tied the record for the lowest back nine score by an amateur in Masters history.
“I learned a lot because the course was really tough. I learned from Bernhard Langer as I hit the ball longer than him, but you just have to be patient on a big course like that one, just do your best every shot and you have to have a good strategy and play your golf.

“Finishing second already in a Challenge Tour event is a big boost and my objective is finishing in the top 15 and going to the European Tour.”
Langasque will be looking to overtake Barclays Kenya Open winner Sebastian Soderberg in the 2016 Road to Oman Rankings when they tee off on April 20 at Sokhna Golf Club.
