The French amateur, who will turn professional after competing at Augusta National, beat American Bryson DeChambeau 4&3 in the annual 18-hole contest between the previous year’s Amateur Champion and US Amateur Champion that has been won in the past by Sergio Garcia and Matt Kuchar at The Golf Club of Georgia.

Langasque - currently second in the Road to Oman Rankings - already claimed victory in the Spanish International Amateur Championship earlier in the month and the 20 year old is the latest in an illustrious line of Challenge Tour successes in the event.

In 19 previous contests, 14 Challenge Tour players have now competed, with Langasque the seventh winner and the first since Garrick Porteous beat Matt Fitzpatrick – also a Challenge Tour player – in 2014.

Other winners from the Challenge Tour stable include Mikko Ilonen in 2001, Michael Hoey’s triumph in 2002, Richie Ramsay prevailing over Julien Guerrier in another all-Challenge Tour affair in 2007, Peter Uihlein in 2011 and Alan Dunbar in 2013.

An equally impressive collection of players have been runners-up, from Graeme Storm in 2000 to Edoardo Molinari in 2006, Reinier Saxton in 2009, Byeong Hun An in 2010 and Bradley Neil in 2015.
