Resurgent Europe take the lead

Europe overtook Asia early on Sunday as the resurgent visitors stamped their authority on the Singles matches at the EurAsia Cup presented by DRB-HICOM.

Thomas Bjørn's men started the day a single point behind Asia but were ahead by the early afternoon after Alex Noren beat Nicholas Fung 4 and 2 in the lead match and Rafa Cabrera Bello saw off Gavin Green 4 and 3 to make it 7½-6½.

Europe were ahead in seven of the matches still out on course, with Asia leading in the other three.

Bernd Wiesberger and Alex Levy were three up in their matches while Henrik Stenson and Tyrrell Hatton both led by two holes.

Race to Dubai champion Tommy Fleetwood, Thomas Pieters and Paul Dunne all led by one while Paul Casey, Matthew Fitzpatrick and Ross Fisher were all one down.

After his match, Noren said: "It feels good.

"It's weird, match play. In the team, when you didn't win your first two matches, you really want to win your third. I ended up doing that.

"I started very well and I played pretty decent until the last few holes, and finally I got it together on the 16th.

"But it's tricky if you don't hit the fairways here because it's pretty bouncy on the greens. Then you get a bit of nerves in there, and you play for the team, it's different."
