Reed joins lead in Germany

Patrick Reed joined the overnight leaders at the top of the leaderboard as the final round of the Porsche European Open started heating up at Green Eagle Golf Courses.

American Bryson DeChambeau and England's Richard McEvoy started the day at 12 under and as they started with three pars, Masters Tournament champion Reed picked up a shot in his first three holes to hit the front.

Austrian Matthias Schwab was then at ten under, one shot clear of Scot David Drysdale.

American Reed's win at Augusta National was his second European Tour victory after the 2014 WGC-Cadillac Championship and he is now seeking his first regular win.

McEvoy claimed his third Challenge Tour win at Le Vaudreuil Golf Challenge last week but is looking for his first European Tour victory at the 285th attempt after twice graduating from the Challenge Tour and coming through the Qualifying School six times.

DeChambeau is making just his second professional start on European soil in a regular event but he has two wins on the US PGA Tour and along with Reed is looking to become the first American winner of this event since Tom Kite in 1980.

DeChambeau and McEvoy both made routine pars on their first three holes and Reed was the first man to make a move, holing a ten-foot right-to-lefter on the same hole to join the lead.

Playing partner Schwab had three-putted the second to hand the leaders a two-shot advantage.

Drysdale birdied the first but he gave the shot back on the third before hitting a brilliant approach into the fourth to get to nine under after five holes.

Swede Christofer Blomstrand, England's Paul Casey, Scotland's Scott Jamieson and Italian Renato Paratore were eight under.
