Heavy rain forced a suspension of play in the first round of the SSE Enterprise Wales Senior Open at The Celtic Manor Resort today.
The heavens opened as the first group of the day completed the fifth hole and play was suspended at 9.26am with several fairways and bunkers waterlogged. Tournament Director Paul Carrigill said: “There will be no further play until at least 12 noon to allow the water to recede from the fairways and for some bunker work to be carried out.
“All being well, and with an improved weather forecast for the rest of the day, we should be able to complete the first round by 7.30pm this evening.”
