Rafferty and Woosnam to lead the charge at Woburn

The 2016 edition of the Travis Perkins Masters will see a new champion crowned on the Duke’s Course at Woburn Golf Club, with former Masters champion Ian Woosnam and 1989 European Tour Number One Ronan Rafferty among the headliners in the strong 54-man field.

Ronan Rafferty

Woosnam’s best result thus far in the 2016 season came in Jersey, where he finished tied for second place after a three-way play-off at the Acorn Jersey Open, won by Gordon Manson.

Rafferty will be taking part in his 24th European Senior Tour event, his best result in 2016 coming at the SSE Enterprise Wales Senior Open, where he finished tied 11th.

The pair will be joined by a number of fellow former Ryder Cup stars including Eamonn Darcy, David Gilford and Barry Lane.

 Roger Chapman

Two-time Senior Major Champion Roger Chapman will make his first appearance on home soil in 2016, and will be hoping to improve on his tied 13th finish at last year’s Travis Perkins Masters.

Winners on the Senior Tour already this season, Zhang Lianwei, Gordon Manson, Andrew Oldcorn and Tim Thelen, are also in the field and will be aiming to become the first multiple winner of 2016.

Former winners of the Travis Perkins Masters, Gordon J Brand, Mark James, Carl Mason and Des Smyth, will all be bidding to add the trophy to their respective cabinets once again, while Mason and Smyth have the chance to emulate Colin Montgomerie’s achievement of winning the title on three occasions.
