This wonderful show of support for two charities, who are active both locally and nationally, was matched by the European Tour, doubling the amount raised from the Pro-Am.  The £7,800 total will be shared equally between the two Aberdeen-based organisations.

Further fundraising activity will take place during the week, bolstering the positive effect of the Matchplay event's presence at Murcar Golf Golf and the town of Aberdeen.

Launched in 2001, two years after Paul won the Open Championship at Carnoustie, the Paul Lawrie Foundation provides opportunities for juniors of any age to start playing golf, compete at golf and improve their capabilities to the highest level.

Befriend a Child is an independent charity and Scotland’s oldest befriending service for disadvantaged and vulnerable children between the ages of 4-16, with a focus of on providing support to young people across Aberdeen City and Aberdeenshire.
