Porsche European Open revving up nicely

A host of past and present Ryder Cup players and European Tour Champions will headline the Porsche European Open when the €2 million event gets under way at Beckenbauer Golf Course in Bad Griesbach from September 24-27, 2015.

Miguel Angel Jimenez and Bernhard Langer

With Bernhard Langer making his only appearance on home soil this year and the likes of the victorious 2014 Ryder Cup Captain Paul McGinley, former US Open Champion Graeme McDowell, the evergreen Miguel Angel Jimenez and the first Asian winner of the Tour’s flagship event at Wentworth, Byeong Hun An, the promoters are rightly delighted to be presented such a strong international field.

“We are happy and proud to be able to present absolute top players to all followers of the golf sport at such an early stage,” said Tournament Director Dominik Senn.

Other Ryder Cup players include the Italian brothers Eduardo and Francesco Molinari, Swedes Peter Hanson and Robert Karlsson, runner-up in the Saltire Energy Paul Lawrie Match Play last weekend, and that event’s host, Paul Lawrie,  Belgium’s Nicolas Colsaerts, Frenchman Victor Dubuisson and Englishman David Howell.

Fans from neighbouring Austria will also be able to follow Bernd Wiesberger, who won last month’s Alstom Open de France in such style.

Other champions from the 2015 European Tour International Schedule include Winners Andy Sullivan (England), Gary Stal (France), Anirban Lahiri (India), Andrew Dodt (Australia), Richie Ramsay (Scotland), James Morrison (England), Chris Wood (England) and Pablo Larrazabal (Spain).

The field is further bolstered by a number of former Tour winners including Oliver Wilson (England), Hennie Otto (South Africa), Brett Rumford (Australia), Raphael Jacquelin (France), Rafa Cabrera-Bello (Spain) and Oliver Fisher (England).

Joining Langer in flying the home flag are Maximilian Kieffer (Duesseldorf), Moritz Lampert (Sandhausen) and Florian Fritsch (Heidelberg).

The players can look forward to a further highlight, as the title sponsor Porsche has a Porsche 911 Carrera Cabrio waiting at hole 17 as price for a Hole-in-one. “We are pleased that we can offer an attractive playerlist at the first Porsche European Open and are curious if a player will leave the tournament with our 911 Carrera Cabrio”, says Bernhard Maier, Member of the board of Porsche AG.

He adds: “We are sure that the European Open will celebrate a brilliant come back on the tournament calendar of the European Tour and will form an absolute attraction for the attending audience as well as for TV viewers.”

Tickets for this season highlight are available and can be purchased online at www.europeanopen.com.
