Pilkadaris grabs share of the halfway lead

Terry Pilkadaris holds a share of the lead at the halfway stage of the King’s Cup presented by PTT Group after posting a bogey-free 67 on Friday.

Australian Pilkadaris was three shots adrift of overnight leader Sattaya Supupramai at the start of the day after Thursday's 66, but three birdies in his second round saw him join home favourite Supupramai at the top.

Challenge Tour graduate Joachim B Hansen is a shot further back in third after mixing six birdies with three bogeys, while Lin Wen-tang, Natipong Srithong, Sutijet Kooratanapisan and Jaco Ahlers are at five under.

Beginning his round at the tenth tee, Pilkadaris notched back-to-back birdies at the 11th and 12th on his way to reaching the turn in 33.

He picked up another shot at the fifth before safely parring his way home to head into the weekend on seven under par.

And when Supupramai dropped a shot at the ninth - his last - Pilkadaris, who was already in the clubhouse, found himself tied at the top of the leaderboard.

After his round, Pilkadaris said: "I just kept the ball in play all day and that was key to my bogey-free round today.

"I’m feeling good. I’ve done some work with my coach on the wedges and short irons and I actually hit them really close to the pins which was really good - Terry Pilkadaris

"You don’t have to mark them and just have to tap it in which is always a good thing. That really took the pressure off me.

"A win would mean a lot. I played well in India and didn’t finish it off. I played well in Mauritius as well and didn’t win again. So I haven’t won for a while and it would be nice to get back in there."

Thailand's Supupramai, who also started at the tenth, made birdies at the 11th and 14th to stay two shots in front at the turn.

After missing par putts at the second and fifth, Supupramai relinquished the outright lead but soon got it back thanks to a birdie at the sixth.

But another dropped shot at the ninth saw him fall back to seven under.

Supupramai has vowed to look forward after Friday's level par 70. He said: "The conditions were very difficult compared to yesterday.

"It was tough in the afternoon as it was windy and the greens were very firm and fast - Sattaya Supupramai

"I tried my best already and the only thing I can do is to look forward, not back.

"I just want to take each round as they come and not get distracted. If I can maintain my focus, I should stand a good chance."

Lukas Nemecz and Francesco Laporta were among the group in a share of eighth place on four under.
