Travis Perkins plc, who have been associated with the Senior Tour for the past 15 years and are title-sponsors of the Masters for the eighth successive year at Woburn, were delighted to hand over the keys to Darrel Fox, Assistant Head Teacher at Heltwate School in Peterborough.

The ceremony on the putting green at Woburn, ahead of today’s Pro-Am event, was attended by several leading Senior Tour players including defending Travis Perkins Masters champion, Colin Montgomerie, and two-time Senior Major winner, Roger Chapman.

The state-of-the-art minibus, which is specially adapted to help simplify the transport of the children on school trips, is the eighth to be handed over by Travis Perkins plc since the tournament move to the Duke’s Course from 2008.

John Carter, Chief Executive of Travis Perkins plc, said: “This is a very special event each year to mark the start of the Travis Perkins Masters. Today’s ceremony was the eighth we have conducted and it was great to see such a big turnout of players to help celebrate the start of the tournament week.

“It has always been our aim to find a worthy recipient of the minibus in close proximity to Woburn and Heltwate School fits the bill perfectly. This is a great opportunity for Travis Perkins to put something back into the community on behalf of the company and our customers.”

Darrel Fox, who was accompanied at Woburn by Glenn Baker, Premises Manager, and two pupils, Tom Amey and Bertosz Sajdak, commented: “The school is extremely appreciative of this kind gesture by Travis Perkins. The minibus, with its hydraulic lift, will be massively helpful in providing ready access to places which will give the children a hands-on experience.”
