Major Champion Danny Willett will be joined by fellow Rolex Series winner Victor Perez when the Cazoo Open de France takes place at Le Golf National, Paris, from September 21-24, 2023.
The 2016 Masters Champion, who has two Rolex Series victories to his name, will return to Continental Europe’s oldest national open for the first time since 2017, while French star Perez, who won his maiden Rolex Series title earlier this year at the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship, will join countrymen including Romain Langasque, Alex Levy and Antoine Rozner at Le Golf National. Willett, who won his eighth DP World Tour title at the 2021 Alfred Dunhill Links Championship, is looking forward to reigniting his association with France’s national open, having finished in a tie for 13th on his tournament debut in 2008 in what was only his fourth DP World Tour start.
“I’ve not been back to Le Golf National for a few years now, so I’m really looking forward to returning,” Willett said.
“I can’t believe it’s been 15 years since I first played the Open de France. I’ve had some decent results over the years so hopefully I can draw on some of those memories to have a good week this time around.”
Frenchman Perez, also a winner of the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship, secured his third DP World Tour victory, and first on the Rolex Series, at Yas Links in January and is now hungry to better his highest finish in his home open, a tie for 16th in 2019.
“I love playing back home in France and it makes it even more special now I no longer live there,” the 31-year-old said.
“The feeling of going home and playing in front of French fans is difficult to describe, but it gives me an added incentive to play well and try to give them something to cheer about.
“Le Golf National is an amazing course and hopefully the people of France come out to watch what I’m sure will be a memorable week.”
