Eddie Pepperell surged into contention on day three of the King’s Cup presented by PTT Group after opening his third round with a hat-trick of birdies.
The 25 year old began the day six shots behind co-leaders Terry Pilkadaris and Sattaya Supupramai after posting rounds of 67 and 72 on Thursday and Friday respectively.
He made the perfect start on Saturday, carding birdies at the first, second and third holes to move to four under.
Pepperell dropped his first shot of the day at the fifth but bounced back immediately, notching an eagle at the long sixth before another birdie at the eighth saw him move to within one stroke of the leaders.
The Englishman safely parred the tricky ninth to reach the turn in 30, just as the final group were getting their third rounds under way.
Chan Shih-chang was also at six under after eight holes after making birdies at the first, fourth, six and eighth.
Meanwhile, Pepperell's playing partner Victor Gebhard Østerby reached five under early on Saturday thanks to gains at the first, fifth and sixth holes.
