Alvaro Quiros and Eddie Pepperell surged clear at the top of the Nordea Masters leaderboard as the third round got off to a blistering start in Malmö.
The pair had shared the halfway lead with France’s Victor Dubuisson but, with Friday’s strong breezes having abated, swiftly charged to nine under par at PGA Sweden National, where World Number Two Henrik Stenson had also made a good start.
Big-hitting Quiros eagled the first from six feet and birdied the third to reach nine under, but Pepperell was keeping pace with the Spaniard.
The Englishman set off with a hat-trick of gains as the leaders moved two clear of Dubuisson, Stenson, first round joint-leader Jens Dantorp and Scotland’s Chris Doak.
England’s David Howell was five under through 17 holes and was on course to set the clubhouse mark at six under par.
