Paratore shines in Czech Republic

Italian teenager Renato Paratore fired a closing 69 at the D+D REAL Czech Masters to record his first top ten finish on the European Tour.

After carding a flawless 65 to hold a share of the lead on Thursday, the 18 year old fell off the pace with scores of 73 and 70 on Friday and Saturday respectively.

But he shot four birdies and a solitary bogey on Sunday to finish in a tie for fifth place at Albatross Golf Resort.

Paratore made a strong start to his fourth round, picking up two shots in his first three holes before another birdie at the seventh took him to the turn in 33.

He looked to be heading for a bogey free round after carding a birdie and seven pars in his next eight holes, but he dropped a shot at the last to finish on 11 under par overall.

Paratore, who finished in a share of 13th at the Omega Dubai Desert Classic earlier this year, was delighted with his performance.

He said: “I played really good. I was solid from tee to green all week and putted well.

"Today I played well on the front nine – three under – then also good on the back nine, but three putted the last hole.

"But I played good.  It is always exciting when you are at the top of the leaderboard and playing good.

"It is more experience for me. I learn a lot about myself. This is my best tournament on the European Tour.

"I finished 13th in Dubai, but this one is better.”
