Open de France qualifier date announced

Eight spots for the prestigious Alstom Open de France will be up for grabs when the tournament’s pre-qualifier takes place on June 17 at the NGF Exclusiv Golf courses at Courson-Stade Français and Apremont, both outside Paris.

Le Golf National

A total of 156 players, both professional and amateur, will compete for the  last  eight  spots  in  the  field for the €3,000,000 event, to be held at Le Golf National near Versailles from July 4-7.

The list of winners of the event includes the likes of Seve Ballesteros (1977, 1982, 1985, 1986), Sir Nick Faldo (1983, 1988, 1989) and Colin Montgomerie (2000) and the 2013 edition is sure to once again attract a field of the highest quality.

As its denomination of “Open” since its inception in 1906 implies, the Alstom Open de France offers a chance to both amateurs and professionals, not already qualified through their results on The European Tour, to play the oldest national open in Continental Europe.

To do so, any male professional member of a recognised PGA, and any male amateur with a maximum handicap of 0, may register for the qualifying stage of the 2013 Alstom Open de France.

Spain's Pablo Larrazábal, the 2008 champion, stands as the only player to come from the qualifying stage and go on to lift the Edward George Stoïber trophy.

Registration for the qualifier opens this Thursday April 18 and will close on May 23.
