Oosthuizen usurps Jamieson as exciting finish looms

South Africa’s Louis Oosthuizen went from five behind Scott Jamieson with 14 holes to play to one ahead with only eight remaining at the Volvo Golf Champions in Durban.

All was going well for the 29 year old Jamieson when he birdied the third and fourth, but a wild drive down the next led to a double bogey six.

Oosthuizen, meanwhile, went to the turn in 32 and started for home with two more birdies to reach 16 under par.

Jamieson, winner of the Nelson Mandela Championship presented by ISPS Handa in the same city last month, was 15 under and then came a two stroke gap to Thailand’s Thongchai Jaidee and Frenchman Julien Quesne.

Oosthuizen went two in front as he hit his second to the long 14th just through the green and two-putted for his seventh birdie of the day.

Jamieson had not had one since the fourth, but eight pars in a row following his double bogey kept his hopes of a Durban double alive, although Jaidee was alongside him after three birdies in five holes.

Oosthuizen's lead was back down to one when he missed a three foot putt and bogeyed the 16th, but when Jamieson came to the same hole he pushed his second into the wet sand, got a plugged lie and could not save his par either.

He and Jaidee were both two behind with two to play.
