On the tee: at the Omega European Masters

David Lipsky will begin the defence of his Omega European Masters title in the company of England’s Lee Westwood and his in-form compatriot Danny Willett.

The marquee trio will head off from the tenth tee at 0755 local time on Thursday morning, with Lipsky bidding to become the first player since Seve Ballesteros to retain the title.

Willett is currently in formidable form, securing his fifth top ten of a superb season in The Open Championship, and the Sheffield native – currently third in The Race to Dubai – also boasts an impressive record in this tournament, with six made cuts and a brace of top five finishes in six appearances at Golf Club Crans-sur-Sierre.

Immediately after Willett and co. at 0805, World Number 18 Patrick Reed will start his quest for a first victory in a regular European Tour event alongside one of his 2014 Ryder Cup opponents, Jamie Donaldson, and the Welshman’s fellow European Tour champion Kiradech Aphibarnrat.

Sergio Garcia, the highest-ranked player in the field and a resident of Crans Montana, gets his bid for a second victory in the tournament underway at 1305.

The Spaniard, who finished tied sixth in The Open Championship, will be joined on the first tee by Thai ace Thongchai Jaidee and in-form Austrian Bernd Wiesberger, who is going for a Gallic double after his victory in the Alstom Open de France at the start of the month.
