Omega Dubai Desert Classic: Day 2 In Numbers

After an exciting day at Emirates Golf Club, europeantour.com looked through all the numbers to select the most interesting stats from the second round at the Omega Dubai Desert Classic.

64- Bogey free eight under par round for the World Number One Rory McIlroy who takes a one shot lead into the weekend.

5- Number of times McIlroy has lead or co-lead after 36 holes at the Omega Dubai Desert Classic, doing so in 2009, 2011, 2012 and 2014. His one win came in 2009.

8- Under par total for McIlroy’s playing partner Andy Sullivan on the par fives. The Englishman has made six birdies, one eagle and one par on the long holes.

319- Average driving distance for Rory during Round Two, second only to Byeong Hun An who averaged 319.5 yards.

55- The combined age of Game Number 32 featuring Dominic Foos (17), Renato Paratore (18) and Matthew Fitzpatrick (20).

94.4- The greens in regulation percentage for Henrik Stenson. The Swede has found the putting on 34 of 36 occasions.

43- Percentage of fairways Rory McIlroy has hit through two rounds. Clearly it’s not affecting his score.

21- Putts for Morten Ørum Madsen today. The 26 year old shot 63, the low round of the week.

30- Under par for Scotland’s Marc Warren over his last five rounds on the European Tour (65, 67, 67, 66, 65)

49- Under par total for Warren’s compatriot Stephen Gallacher on the back nine since 2012. The defending champion has made 42 pars and 9 eagles in in the last four years on the closing holes.

8- Number of birdies in a row for Emiliano Grillo who birdied his opening hole today having finished with seven straight birdies last night. Not a record however. In 1978, José Maria Cañizares finished the 2nd round of the Swiss Open with 5 birdies & started the 3rd round with 6 birdies and an eagle.

16- Number of birdies for Seve Benson after two days. More than anyone else in the field.

4- Players survived the first two rounds without a bogey: Bernd Wiesberger, Alex Noren, Jorge Campillo and Lee Westwood.

121- Number of birdies on the par five 13th hole. More birdies than pars (117) on this hole so far despite Rory McIlroy making par both times he’s played it.

-2- The cut line this year, same as 2014. Some of the players not making the weekend include Sergio Garcia, Rafa Cabrera-Bello, Eddie Pepperell, Thomas Bjørn and Thorbjørn Olesen.
