Olympic Golf play-off scenarios

In the event of play-offs being required to determine the awarding of the gold, silver and bronze medals at the Olympic Men’s Golf Competition, the following scenarios will play out:

Should there be a tie for the lead involving at least three players at the conclusion of today’s play, a sudden death play-off will determine the winners of each medal. Holes 18, 1 and 17 will be played on a loop until the outcome is decided.

If two players share the lead at the end of play, the gold and silver medals will be settled over holes 18, 1 and 17 for as long as necessary.

In the event that a play-off is required to settle the awarding of the bronze medal, holes 1, 17 and 18 will be played until a winner can be determined. The gold/silver and bronze/fourth place play-offs will start within 30 seconds to one minute of each other.
