Olesen shoots up Race to Dubai with Scottish success

Thorbjørn Olesen performed impressively in the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship to shoot up The Race to Dubai, beating Americans Brooks Koepka and Chris Stroud by two strokes.

The Dane’s 18 under par total catapulted him up almost 100 places in The Race to Dubai after claiming a winner’s cheque for € 708,171. The 25 year old now sits comfortably in 25th in the rankings with 883,472 points and has now sealed his spot in the DP World Tour Championship, Dubai.
Olesen, who spent three months on the sidelines following wrist  surgery earlier this year, was elated to win at St Andrews.

"It's been a very tough season for me, and I would like to give a special thanks to my coaches, family and friends, and anyone who has been there,” said Olesen. "It was nice this week just to play three great rounds of golf - the first three - and keep it together in this last round.”

The top 60 players in The Race to Dubai qualify for the prestigious US$8million season-ending event which takes place on Earth course at Jumeirah Golf Estates from Thursday November 19 to Sunday November 22.  With a Race to Dubai Bonus Pool of US$5 million divided between the top 15 players in The Race to Dubai rankings following the conclusion of the DP World Tour Championship, as well as an additional US$1,365,500 for those players competing in at least three events on the Final Series, Olesen will be hoping he can maintain his form for the remaining six events of the season.

It was also a fantastic weekend for Koepka who has risen into the top ten in The Race to Dubai. The 25 year old earned himself 369,050 points in The Race to Dubai which boosted him up to eighth from 13th.

Chris Wood's fourth-place finish has lifted him up to 26th from 29th in the rankings so he will be joining Koepka and Olesen in The European Tour’s season-ending DP World Tour Championship.

Northern Irishman Rory McIlroy still sits at the summit of The Race to Dubai with 3,012,000 points, with Englishman Danny Willett (2,706,105 points) just behind.

General admission is free of charge and can be obtained by registering online at www.DPWorldTourChampionship.com. Those who register will also be placed into a prize draw with the chance to win a VIP Hospitality package for the Championship Chalet.
