Defending champion Miguel Angel Jiménez believes Crans-sur-Sierre can provide the perfect setting for his first win of 2011.
The 19-time European Tour winner claimed three titles in 2010, but has yet to get off the mark in this campaign.
However, the Spaniard still remains confident that his game is in good shape ahead of the Omega European Masters.
“I did it in the end! It took me 22 years of coming here but I love it here,” said the 47 year old. “The first time I played here was in my first year on Tour and it is a beautiful place in the mountains.
“This valley here is amazing. I have a lot of friends and this is the only tournament I’ve never missed. I love the place. It’s great to be here defending my title, which was so hard to win.
“It’s a good record. I like the place and the golf course. The changes are good. Before the changes it was always five or six under par then everything is going to opposite way so you need to be more selective. It’s not a long course but you need to be good off the tee and have very good short game. It’s improved a lot as a course and is much better for us.
“It’s not possible to win three or four times a year. I’ve had several top-tens this year. I’m 47 now and it’s not possible to win so many times. I’m still playing well. No victories but the hole is moving!
“I’m not in the best form on the greens. The past is the past though. I have good memories for confidence but I’m looking to the future. When you go on the golf course you go to win and that is still there. You have to keep playing and feeling good. No victories yet. Yet!”
Another player trying to add to his haul of titles is Germany’s Martin Kaymer, whose last win came in Abu Dhabi in January.
“This is one of the most beautiful places we go to in the year,” said Kaymer. “If you walk around, it is a very nice in town. You have good restaurants.”
