Martin Kaymer found out exactly how much his stock has risen since capturing his maiden Major Championship earlier this month when he was asked to sound the NASDAQ Opening Bell in New York City today.

The 25 year old was given the honour in recognition of his magnificent victory in the 92nd US PGA Championship at Whistling Straits, in Kohler, Wisconsin when he became only the second German after Bernhard Langer to capture one of golf’s four Majors.

He visited the NASDAQ MarketSite in New York City's Times Square as part of a tour of the Big Apple in which he also gave a number of media interviews, including to ESPN, Bloomberg and Sports Illustrated.

Kaymer’s victory was the third by a European Tour Member this season, with Graeme McDowell and Louis Oosthuizen winning the US Open and The Open Championship respectively.

Like Kaymer, McDowell received a surge in attention from the Unites States media in the wake of his maiden Major win on American soil, making appearances on the Tonight with Jay Leno show and hit TV programme Entourage.

Both players will be part of the European Ryder Cup Team which takes on the United States at The Celtic Manor Resort from October 1-3.

They will also join Oosthuizen and Masters Champion Phil Mickelson in the four-man field for the 2010 PGA Grand Slam of Golf in Bermuda from October 18-20.
