The European Tour Performance Institute truck has a new look for the 2018 Race to Dubai season and will make its return at the Open de España rebranded the European Tour Performance Unit.
The change to Performance Unit from Physio Unit is representative of the extensive services available to the Members of the European Tour, Challenge Tour and Staysure Tour, which currently include the following:
- Sports medicine
- Radiology review clinics
- Wrist and hand review clinics
- Physiotherapy
- Osteopathy
- Chiropractic
- Sports therapy
- Strength & conditioning training
- Performance nutrition
- Health check clinics
- Skin screening
- Confidential helpline for counselling
Also returning to Spain this week is home favourite and World Number 24 Rafa Cabrera Bello, who has been an avid user of the Performance Unit facilities during his professional career on the European Tour.
“Having the Performance Unit available to us as players and the services they offer is crucial to help us maintain our performance both on and off the golf course,” said the three-time European Tour winner.
“The modern game of golf is very demanding on the body. We need to be in peak physical condition to compete with the best players in the world, and it is a credit to Rob and his team for the continued success of the Performance Unit and their professional approach to helping us continually improve as athletes.”
The European Tour Physiotherapy Unit was set up in 1992 in response to the growth of the game of golf and to meet the health and fitness requirements of professional golfers on Tour. Over the last 25 years the service has grown and developed enormously to provide a world class, comprehensive service to enable Tour golfers to complete and perform at the highest-level week, in week out across the globe.

Members will have access to coordinated nutrition plans provided by Performance Nutrition experts Professor Graeme Close, David Dunne and Hannah Mayho, while both Members and Caddies have the ability to undergo skin and wellness screenings available at the BMW PGA Championship, Aberdeen Standard Investments Scottish Open, and British Masters supported by Sky Sports, which will be completed by Road to Health.
