Having previously been played in September, the German event moves to a new slot two weeks before The Senior Open Championship Presented by Rolex at Sunningdale, the final Senior Major Championship of the season.

Next season’s tournament is the first year of a new six year agreement to continue staging the event at WINSTONgolf in Vorbeck, with the WINSTONopen Course remaining as the host course in 2015, with the intention to move to the WINSTONlinks Course in 2016.

Andy Stubbs, Managing Director of the European Senior Tour, said: “The WINSTONgolf Senior Open has become a popular and important part of the Senior Tour schedule since its inception in 2012, and we have witnessed plenty of excitement and drama over the impressive Open Course at WINSTONgolf.

“We were delighted to agree a six year extension to the contract earlier this season, and the tournament’s new July date, between the US Senior Open and The Senior Open Championship, should help it continue to develop and attract some of the leading senior golfers.”

Englishman Paul Wesselingh became the third different winner of the event in as many years when he triumphed in September, defeating compatriot Phil Golding and home favourite Bernhard Langer, the reigning Senior Open Champion, on the third hole of a play-off on a dramatic final day

Wesselingh, the 2013 Senior Tour Order of Merit winner, finished with a superb round of 65, which included two eagles, as he captured his sixth Senior Tour title to succeed Scotland’s Gordon Brand Jnr as champion. The inaugural event in 2012 was won by Australian Terry Price.
