How would you sum up your campaign so far?

“I think the last few weeks of the season are what I’ve been working towards so far, winning the Acaya Open and then following that up with a second place in the Credit Suisse Challenge.

It has reiterated what I’ve been saying, which is that I’ve been playing good golf but the results just hadn’t been coming for me.”

How would you rate this Challenge Tour season in comparison to the previous seasons in your professional career?

“I feel I’m a much better player right now, much more consistent. In previous years, the results were coming in fits and starts but I’ve started making cuts this seasons and pushing for top tens, which is great.

I think I’ve just got used to the surroundings on the Tour and I’ve made a couple of small technical changes to my swing, but it’s not been any major changes.

“That first win took longer that I’d have liked but it’s been a very encouraging few weeks for me.”

Greatest moment of the year?

“Obviously, it would be the first win at the Acaya Open in Italy and when the final player (Jorge Campillo, who missed a putt to force a play-off) came in.

The excitement took a while to sink in. I hadn’t looked at the leaderboard at all on my way round, I just wanted to keep focussed on my game, so it took a while to sink in when I finally did win it, but it was a great moment.”

Aims for the rest of the year?

“My aim is just to keep putting myself in good positions in the remaining tournaments and getting myself a few top tens.

Obviously, I’d like to win a couple more but you can’t control what other players are going to do and there are some really good players on the Challenge Tour at the moment. But a few more high finishes would be great.”

Aims beyond 2011?

“Obviously when you make that first breakthrough, you want to go on and play on The European Tour year-in, year-out.

Hopefully now I can go on and get my card and become a European Tour regular.”
