Mouland in a confident mood in Scotland

Welshman Mark Mouland says he is playing with confidence after his victory at the Farmfoods British Par 3 Championship, and will aim to continue his good form at the Prostate Cancer UK Scottish Senior Open, at Archerfield Links.

Mouland, a winner on the European Senior Tour in 2011, finished tied sixth at the WINSTONgolf Senior Open, before winning the British Par 3 Championship earlier this month.

“Any win is a good win, especially in the class of field we had,” said Mouland. “We had the best field we’ve ever assembled with players coming from all over to take part.

“I shot ten under in the first round, which was my best score for a number of years.

“I finished just two shots back at WINSTONgolf, in Germany. I played with Bernhard (Langer) in the last round, which was nice, I hadn’t played with him for a long time.

“I carried that confidence into the Par 3 and I’m now looking forward to the next four weeks; it’s a nice run of tournaments.

“Everybody will be in the same boat, playing four weeks in a row, and we’re playing on four good courses which we all know from previous events over the years. Everybody will be grinding out and I think we’ll see some great golf.”

Mouland said he is delighted to support Prostate Cancer UK, title sponsors of this week’s event at Archerfield for the second year running.

“This is a great cause,” he added. “It’s one of those diseases that can sneak up on you. I know a few people with prostate cancer and I know that this is a very good cause.

“Let’s hope it’s well supported by the public coming to watch.”

People are unaware that prostate cancer is the most common cancer in men. It’s a huge issue that cannot be ignored. In 2016 one man an hour will die from prostate cancer in the UK. That’s 10,900 men this year. Based on current trends, if we ignore prostate cancer and do nothing, this number will rise to over 14,500 men a year by 2026. People are urged to search Men United and join the fight.
