Joel Moscatel won twice on the Challenge Tour in 2024 to earn a first promotion to the DP World Tour.
The Spaniard enjoyed an outstanding season, winning twice and recording two other top tens to finish tenth on the Road to Mallorca Rankings and guarantee graduation.
The 26-year-old earned a breakthrough victory in memorable fashion on home soil in the Challenge de España at Real Club Sevilla Golf, with a birdie at the 72nd hole enough to secure a one-stroke victory.
Moscatel would add a second win of the season just six weeks later in the Le Vaudreuil Golf Challenge in France to all-but guarantee promotion to golf’s Global Tour.
“Step-by-step, I improved as the season went on and then obviously winning two times felt amazing,” he said.
“Confidence and belief is a big part of it. I feel like all of the guys that are playing on the Challenge Tour, and even on the satellite tours, are good enough.
“It’s a case of just believing in yourself and figuring out how to score when things aren’t going quite as well.”
Moscatel finished 124th on the Road to Mallorca 12 months prior but regrouped and found form in the final weeks of 2023 at Final Stage Qualifying School, where he finished tied 34th, just one stroke from gaining a DP World Tour card.
That result gave Moscatel a start on the DP World Tour in the Fortinet Australian PGA Championship at the beginning of the 2024 Race to Dubai, and it was an opportunity that he took with both hands. A tied seventh finish saw him record his best career finish to date.
Moscatel says his performances firstly at Qualifying School, and secondly in Australia, were the catalysts for an exceptional year on the Challenge Tour.
“Everything really started at Q-School last year,” he said. “That gave me quite a lot of confidence, playing well alongside some big names that were there.
“I went on to Australia where I played well on the DP World Tour. Since that moment, I have no words for the year I’ve had.”
