England’s James Morrison is looking to improve on last year’s top ten finish when he returns to Bro Hof Slott for the Nordea Masters.
The 26 year old finished tied for eighth 12 months ago after an impressive final round sent him soaring up the leaderboard.
“It’s going to be another tough test like last year,” he said. “There’s rain forecast this week – a bit of wind and rain and it will be a tough test.
“I like it. It’s good because you haven’t got to shoot 65 to go forward ten spots. If you shoot under par you’re going to go forward quite a bit, so it’s a nice feeling to have to just go out there and play golf and know that level par will be a good score.”
Morrison is currently 79th on The Race to Dubai and the former Madeira Islands Open winner is looking forward to trying to claim a place in the season-ending Dubai World Championship having missed out by one place in his maiden season.
The top 60 players qualify, and having all but secured his card for next season with a seventh-place finish in France, Morrison is looking to keep improving.
“I’m very keen – week off last week,” he added. “Had two good weeks and my card’s pretty much done now so that’s one box ticked off from the start of the year. The second year on Tour is the hardest they say but I’m playing well so I’m keen to get going now and looking forward to the rest of the season.”
Morrison may not have had a win yet this season, but he did provide some coaching advice to a recent champion – St Omer champion Matthew Zions.
“Me and Matt are very close,” he continued. “Matt was the best man at my wedding. He asks me from time-to-time about putting, which is my strength, and I’m always keen to help other people. I take satisfaction in seeing my friends do well so anything I can do to help, the better.”
