McDowell to return to Le Golf National

Graeme McDowell has confirmed he will return to Le Golf National for the 99th edition of the Alstom Open de France from July 2-5, when he will bid to become only the second man in the tournament’s illustrious history to win the title for three years in succession.

Having successfully defended his title last year, McDowell will aim to emulate the achievements of the only player with three consecutive victories to his name, France’s Marcel Dallemagne, who won in 1936 at Saint-Germain, in 1937 at Saint-Cloud and in 1938 at Fourqueux.

“Of course I’ll be coming back to defend my title,” said McDowell. “It would be a beautiful thing to win three in a row.”

The World Number 22, who won the US Open Championship in 2010, sealed his tenth European Tour title in Versailles, where he took advantage of a final day wobble by long-time leader Kevin Stadler of America.
