HISTORICAL FACTS OF THE MASTERS TOURNAMENT IN NUMBERS

3 – The number of players to have won the Masters Tournament on their debut. They are: Horton Smith (1934), Gene Sarazen (1935) and Fuzzy Zoeller (1979).

50 – The number of years between the first South African victory by Gary Player in 1961 and Charl Schwartzel in 2011.

506 – The number of birdies Jack Nicklaus made during his Masters career.

63 - Tommy Aaron made Masters Tournament history in 2000 by becoming the oldest player to make the cut.

2 – The number of attempts it took Charl Schwartzel to win the Masters Tournament.

10 – The hole which has historically ranked as the toughest, with an average of 4.32.

1957 – The year the 36 hole cut was introduced.

50  - The record for the number of consecutive holes at par or better by Stuart Appleby in 2001,

59 – The most number of pars in a tournament by Billy Maxwell in 1958.

4 – Ben Hogan, Jack Nicklaus and Tom Weiskopf, hold the record for the most runner-up finishes.

276 – The four round total for Jason Day, who finished in a tie for second in 2011. His aggregate set a new Masters Tournament record for the lowest 72 hole score by a player competing in his first Masters Tournament.

31 – Sandy Lyle will be making his 31st appearance in the Masters Tournament in 2012. This latest appearance will see the Scotsman go level with Fuzzy Zoeller and move into the top 15 for the most Masters Tournaments played.

15 - The hole which has historically ranked as the easiest, with an average of 4.79.

0 – No player has yet to win the annual Par 3 Contest and go onto win the Masters Tournament in the same year.
