Arnold Palmer, Gary Player and Jack Nicklaus – golf’s ‘Big Three’ – will get the 2012 Masters Tournament underway at 7.40am local time when they hit the ceremonial opening shots, Player joining Palmer and Nicklaus for the first time this year.

Ryder Cup Captain and two-time Masters Champion José Maria Olazábal will be the first European in action when he takes to the course at 8.01am in the second group out, followed by 1999 Open Champion Paul Lawrie, competing for the first time in eight years.

Schwartzel’s defence begins at 10.24am and he will be followed by the three-ball  of Tiger Woods, Miguel Angel Jiménez and Korea’s Sang-Moon Bae.

World Number One Luke Donald is immediately behind with Ryder Cup team-mate Francesco Molinari and American Nick Watney. They will be the last group onto Augusta National in the second round.

World Number Two Rory McIlroy finds himself back with Argentina's Angel Cabrera for the first two rounds. It was 2009 Champion Cabrera who watched the 22-year-old Northern Irishman take 80 on the final day last year, although it was Schwartzel who took advantage.

Big-hitting left-hander Bubba Watson is the other member of the three-ball this time and they have a long wait before starting their challenges.

A 1.42pm tee-off time means they are in the penultimate group on the opening day, with three-time winner Phil Mickelson, Sunday's Houston Open champion Hunter Mahan and Swede Peter Hanson bringing up the rear.

World Number Three Lee Westwood, runner-up to Mickelson two years ago, plays with 2000 champion Vijay Singh and 2003 US Open champion Jim Furyk at 12.58pm.
