Masters: Day one in numbers

The first round of the first Major of the year is the books, and it didn't disappoint! Here at Augusta National Golf Club, we've dug through all the statistics from the opening round to bring the best facts and figures form day one.

64- Low score of the day from Jordan Spieth. One shot off the Augusta course record.

5- In five career rounds at the Masters, Spieth has never been outside the top five on the leaderboard. His position after each round reads fifth, third, first, second, first.

9- Birdies for Jordan Spieth. Two more than anyone else in the field and three more than the 21 year old has ever made in a Major round prior to today.

16- Greens in Regulation for Billy Horschel in his round of 70, more than any other player today.

302- Average driving distance of Bradley Neil today, the 2014 British Amateur Champion. The 19 year old was one of only three players to average over 300 yards alongside Dustin Johnson and JB Holmes.

327- The yardage of Rory McIlroy’s opening tee shot, the longest shot hit at Augusta all day. Think that’s what you call adrenaline!

13- Fairways hit by Rory McIlroy. No one in the field hit more. The only time he missed the short grass was on the second, where his drive found the creek on the left hand side.

9 - Consecutive under par rounds in the Majors for the World Number One, the longest streak of his career.

65- The age of Tom Watson who today become the oldest player to break par at the Masters when he shot an opening round 71.

64- The length, in feet, of Danny Willett’s eagle putt on the 13th. One of seven eagles during Thursday's play. Not bad for your first competitive visit to the famous par five!

10- The fewest shots needed to play Amen Corner today, by Jordan Spieth, Matt Kuchar and Camilo Villegas.

3 - Birdies at the 11th hole all day, the fewest of any hole. Only Patrick Reed, Jonas Blixt and Brendon Todd made three.

4.65 - The average score on the par five 15th hole, the easiest hole today. More players made birdie (43) than par (42).

73.4- The average score on Thursday. Of the 97 players in the field 30 broke par and 11 shot less than 70.
