The 2011 Dubai World Championship presented by DP World, which will bring the curtain down on The European Tour’s Race to Dubai in December, has launched a campaign to recruit volunteer marshals for the season’s star-studded finale.
To be played at the Greg Norman-designed Earth course, Jumeirah Golf Estates on December 8-11, the tournament has also appointed Jenni Hoskins as Chief Marshal – a role that will see her co-ordinate a team of volunteers to work alongside stars such as newly-crowned US Open champion Rory McIlroy and World Number One Luke Donald who have already secured their places in the 60-man field.
“I am excited to be heading up the Volunteer Marshal operation for 2011,” said Hoskins, a 17 handicapper and member of both Emirates Golf Club and Bearwood Lakes in England and a keen supporter of the Volunteer Marshal operation in both 2009 and 2010.
“Buddy Morin and his team have set high standards over the past two years. Last year, we attracted more than 300 volunteer marshals from Dubai, the UAE, the Gulf region and many from overseas as well as 25 volunteer TV support scorers.
“Attendance figures have been high for the past two years so we will need at least the same number of marshals again in 2011. We look forward to welcoming back last year’s volunteers as well as new volunteers who want to enjoy the tournament from a working perspective that is also fun and rewarding.”

Among the marshal benefits are Dubai World Championship clothing, caps, tournament passes, car parking and invitations to 200 volunteers to a Volunteers’ Appreciation Golf Day played over the Earth course or a Green Fee voucher.
While there remains a long way to go in The Race to Dubai - a series that embraces 50 tournaments in 29 destinations – McIlroy’s brilliant US Open win has seen him move into third place behind leader Luke Donald and Masters champion Charl Schwartzel. Along with 2009 Dubai World Champion and inaugural Race to Dubai winner Lee Westwood, the top three have already secured their places in the season’s glittering finale, while defending champion Robert Karlsson will be looking to return to defend his title.
The tournament prize-money remains at $7,500,000 with a bonus pool for the final top fifteen in The Race to Dubai of a further $7,500,000 making a total prize fund of $15,000,000.

The Race to Dubai on The 2011 European Tour International Schedule features 50 tournaments played at 29 destinations, culminating in the Dubai World Championship, presented by DP World, over the Earth course at Jumeirah Golf Estates, Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
This third edition of The Race to Dubai carries a prize fund of $7.5 million and a Bonus Pool of $7.5 million to be divided between the leading 15 players at the conclusion of the season.
The potential audience reach of The Race to Dubai events across the Tour’s global broadcast platforms encompasses almost 500,000,000 households (live/delayed transmissions); 218,000,000 (highlights) and around 350,000,000 via the weekly magazine show, European Tour Weekly.
