The duo, who were among the early starters on Thursday, posted opening rounds of 66 to finish the day on four under par.

Things could have been even better for Singaporean Mamat, but the 48 year old dropped his only shot of the day at the ninth - his last - to sit alongside Thailand's Techakanokboom.

The pair went into the clubhouse one shot behind Sattaya Supupramai after the 28 year old made six birdies and a solitary bogey in his opening 13 holes.

Beginning his round at the tenth tee, Mamat picked up a shot at the short 13th before notching another birdie at the 18th to reach the turn in 33 strokes.

He made it back-to-back gains with a three at the par four first before another birdie at the sixth - his fourth of the day - saw him take a share of the lead.

Mamat, who won his only European Tour title at the OSIM Singapore Masters ten years ago, then picked up another shot at the eighth before carding his only bogey at the next to fall back to four under.

Techakanokboom, meanwhile, recovered from early bogeys at the second and fourth with gains at the fifth, sixth and eighth before making three further birdies on the back nine.
