Marcus Helligkilde was four over par for his first round but the Dane provided one of the highlights of the day for the home crowd at Farsø’s trademark 16th hole HimmerLand Hill, the ultra-short par three playing 97 yards on day one. Wait for it…

Squeak, squeak

Another unique feature of the venue is the squeaky sound often heard around the greens. Spectators can buy rubber ducks named Benny the Birdie, Eddie the Eagle and Andy the Ace which squeak when squeezed, with the sale proceeds going to the KidsAid charity which supports sick and vulnerable children in Denmark as well as their families. Home player Lucas Bjerregaard, who opened with a two-under-par 68, said: “These squeaking ducks, they’re nice to hear but also I do have nightmares about them!”

Pablo scrambles from the sand

Pablo Larrazabal was faced with a horrible lie for his fourth shot at the par-five 11th, half-buried in a greenside bunker. No problem for the entertaining Spaniard, who splashed out brilliantly and holed from a foot for par.

Ramsay goes one better

Scotland's Richie Ramsay made the most of a more pleasant lie in the sand on the sixth hole, sending his effort into the hole on the second bounce for a spectacular birdie.
