Made in Denmark Challenge presented by Ejner Hessel: In Numbers

The European Challenge Tour heads to its 11thcountry of the season for the Made in Denmark Challenge presented by Ejner Hessel this week. Here are a selection of the best statistics ahead of the fourth edition of the event.

One –appearance for Harry Ellis as a professional after this week. The 2017 British Amateur Champion, who has played in the Open Championship, the Masters Tournament and the U.S. Open since winning at Royal St. George's Golf Club, makes his professional debut on the Challenge Tour this week.

Two –previous winners of the Made in Denmark Challenge presented by Ejner Hessel are in the field this week. German Bernd Ritthammer, who was triumphant in 2016, will tee it up at Himmerland Golf and Spa Resort and defending champion Oscar Stark, of Sweden, will be aiming to become the first back-to-back winner of the event.

Five – previous Challenge Tour events have been played at Himmerland Golf and Spa Resort. The Himmerland Open took place at the venue from 1994 to 1997 while the Navision Open Golf Championship was held at the resort in 1998.

It was the location for Thomas Bjørn’s first Challenge Tour victory when he won the 1995 Himmerland Open.

128 – yards – the length of the unique par three 16thhole at Himmerland Golf and Spa Resort. The hole, nicknamed ‘Himmerland Hill’ by local fans, features a green set in a bowl surrounded by banks which the passionate Danish fans take over during tournaments.

Seven – winners from this season will be teeing it up in Denmark, including David Law who triumphed in his homeland last week.

14 – under par was the overall winning score carded by Stark last year. It was also the biggest winning margin of the Made in Denmark Challenge presented by Ejner Hessel as the Swede finished two shots ahead of Dominc Foos, Victor Perez and Adrien Saddier, who tied for second.

One– hole-in-one at the 2017 Made in Denmark Challenge presented by Ejner Hessel. Nicolo Ravano aced the 164-yard sixth hole during the first round at Royal Oak Golf Club last year.

Four – former Challenge Tour players have won the European Tour’s Made in Denmark at Himmerland Golf and Spa Resort. American Julian Suri claimed his first European Tour title last year after Thomas Pieters won the event in 2016.

Former Challenge Tour graduates David Horsey and Marc Warren won the popular Danish tournament in 2016 and 2015, respectively.

13 –Danes will take part on home soil at the Made in Denmark Challenge presented by Ejner Hessel, including Road to Ras Al Khaimah Number Two Joachim B. Hansen.
