Lynn’s first success since the 2004 KLM Open nine years ago lifted him to his highest World Ranking position a week before his 40th birthday, significantly putting him in the frame for a second Masters Tournament invite should he remain in the top 50 at the end of the year.

Elsewhere Charl Schwartzel advanced two places to 17th in the World Ranking after he held off Darren Clarke to win the Nanshan China Masters. Schwartzel fired a final round of 68 at Nanshan International Golf Club to claim a one-shot victory over Clarke, who held a two-shot lead going into the final round but closed with a 72.

In the Frys.com Open on the PGA Tour Brooks Koepka also held a two shot lead heading into the final 18 holes but the American, who graduated to the European Tour this season after winning three times on the Challenge Tour, closed with a 72 to finish tied third, three behind winner Jimmy Walker with Fiji’s Vijay Singh claiming second place. Koepka continued his rise up the World Ranking by moving 19 places to 81st having started the year at 436th.
