Luiten eager to return to winning ways

Joost Luiten is hoping to convert his excellent form this year into an overdue victory at this week's Lyoness Open powered by Sporthilfe Cashback Card.

The Dutchman has already registered eight top-15 finishes this season, including back-to-back runner-up performances in Spain and China.

Four-time European Tour winner Luiten also boasts a sensational record at Diamond Country Club, having won this event over the Atzenbrugg layout in 2013 as well as third-place finishes in 2011 and 2014.

"It's good to be back," said the 30 year old, who currently lies ninth in the Race to Dubai.

"It's always good to come back to a course where you've won in the past - it gives you a lot of confidence.

"I think I've played three times and I've finished top three in all of them so I'm really looking forward to playing again here.

"It's quite a chilled tournament and that's always nice, especially after Ireland and Wentworth – they're always tough ones mentally, especially at Wentworth which is such a demanding golf course. It was good that I could take a week off, rest a little and work on my game and be ready for this week and hopefully I can do something like I did in 2013.

"I've been playing well, second in Spain and second in China, and sometimes you need a bit of luck to win and I didn't get that those times, making a couple of mistakes coming down the stretch.

Despite his consistency this season, Luiten finds himself outside the automatic qualifying places for Europe's Ryder Cup Team and admits he needs a big summer to put himself in contention for Hazeltine.

"Olympics is coming up, the Ryder Cup is coming up, so I need a good stretch of tournaments this summer but of course I'm just looking for a win somewhere," he added.

"If I can just focus on every tournament and try to win then the rest will take care of itself."
