Levy excited by Shenzhen showdown

Alexander Levy is relishing the prospect of a six-man battle for victory at the weather-delayed Shenzhen International on Monday morning.

More than nine hours of play has been lost this week due to electrical storms and heavy rain, forcing the tournament into a fifth day where the title is very much up for grabs.

Levy has completed 12 holes of his final round and sits in a share of the lead at 14 under alongside Soomin Lee and Lee Slattery who have both played 13 holes.

Scott Hend has set the clubhouse target a shot further back, with Joost Luiten and Brandon Stone both also on 13 under with holes left to play on Monday morning.

The Frenchman played the last five holes of his third round in three under par for a 66 on Sunday morning before picking up two further strokes in the afternoon, and he is excited at the thought of a race to the finish line.

"I feel great," he said. "I played some good golf today, especially this morning, I shot six under and I'm in position.

"This afternoon, I played a really good game. The greens were a little bit bumpy because of the rain and a lot of people on the greens but it's nice to come back tomorrow with fresh greens and good conditions.

"I really enjoy this position. We'll see what happens tomorrow morning.

I know with the adrenaline, I'll wake up tomorrow at 4:30 with big highs. I will be ready to enjoy this moment - Alexander Levy

It will be a second consecutive 6.30am start at Genzon Golf Club for the leading players, and Slattery believes a good night's rest will be essential to his chances.

"It's just been really tough out there to keep your concentration and keep your strength," he said.

"I've got more tired as the week's gone on but I think everybody could say that. I've hit the ball well all week and I've hit a lot of greens and that's been key to the performance. I could have holed more putts but I've holed a few as well and it's been steady.

"It's going to be an early night, try and get as much sleep as possible. I'll just try to feel as fit as I can tomorrow morning."

Lee admitted nerves got the better of him as he dropped three shots on the front nine but was pleased with the way he bounced back with two birdies.

"On the front nine, I was nervous too much but I took time on number nine and then I got comfortable," he said.

"I'll just try to really focus on my golf. This tournament is really good for me. Hopefully I'll win."

Hend's 66 in the final round means he is the man to be caught but he believes he has "no chance" of winning the tournament.

"Six under today is a great round but it would have been nice to make birdie on 17 and maybe roll another putt in somewhere else to post a score for them to think about overnight. It is what it is," he said.

"I think 15 under is probably the mark. If I had have got in at 14 under, it would have given them something to think about. But three guys on 14 under and three guys on 13, I think someone will make a couple birdies coming in."
