Lee leads the way in China

Soomin Lee extended his lead at the Shenzhen International to three shots as the weather-delayed third round was completed on Sunday morning.

The South Korean has been in stunning form all week at Genzon Golf Club as he goes in search of a first European Tour title at just the sixth attempt and held a five-shot advantage stood on the 17th tee.

A double-bogey on the penultimate hole - his first dropped shots all week - then left the door ajar for the chasing pack

With over six and a half hours of play lost over days one and two, Lee had seven holes of the third round left to play on Sunday and entered the final day with a two-shot lead over England's Callum Shinkwin.

He did well to save par on the 12th and then rattled off three birdies in a row from the 13th, before finding the water with his second shot to the par five 17th and three-putting to sign for a 70 and get to 15 under.

The 22 year old finished in a tie for third on his European Tour debut at the UBS Hong Kong Open and looked on course to win the Maybank Championship Malaysia before recording two double-bogeys in his last three holes at Royal Selangor Golf Club.

"I felt many things in Malaysia," he said.

Right now is a little bit comfortable for me, so it's okay. I'll just focus on my golf - Soomin Lee

He will again take a three-shot lead into the final round but will not only have to hold off Shinkwin - who fired a brilliant third round 62 on Saturday - but also Alexander Levy who has won at Genzon before.

The Frenchman also has a 62 on this layout - recorded en route to his victory at the 2014 Volvo China Open - and he recorded three birdies in five holes on Sunday to post a 66 and join Shinkwin at 12 under.

Lee Slattery was also at 12 under after making two birdies in his six holes after the resumption to sign for a 68.

Welshman Bradley Dredge was then at 11 under with a run of three birdies from the 15th helping him to a 68, with Joost Luiten, Richie Ramsay and Brandon Stone a further shot back.

Levy made a dramatic start as he birdied the 14th, chipped in to save his par on the next and then put his tee-shot on the 16th to eight feet for another gain.

Slattery nearly chipped in for eagle on the 13th and made the birdie putt but Lee then found his rhythm as he looked to pull away from the field. Back-to-back approaches to eight feet on the 13th and 14th brought a pair of birdies and he left himself just four feet for birdie on the next.

An aggressive approach to the 17th led to trouble, however, as Levy and Slattery both birdied the last.

South African Stone parred his way in for a 69, with Scotland's Ramsay making birdies on the 13th and 15th in a 71.

Luiten is in search of a sixth top ten of the season and the Dutchman signed for a 72 with two birdies and a bogey on the way in.

Dane Thorbjørn Olesen was then at eight under alongside Ireland's Paul Dunne.
